Something that hasn’t been mentioned in the Should-HoloPac-Tour conversation is the effect that the hologram’s impact and possible tour might have on bands whose members aren’t dead. I tend to side with Vulture and others who are wary of the possibility of a touring hologram, but I’m personally more concerned not with performing specters but the specter of a crowd attending a concert where there’s not an actual band on stage. There’ll always be rock shows, as long as there are basements, but c’mon—you don’t think Eric Clapton would love to be able to send a hologram out on the road? That’s a truly terrifying thought, even if you insert another artist’s name.
